Cats

This weekend I spent a lot of the time with my girlfriend. We talked about pets and such, and decided that we would both get a cat, and wed raise them our own way and such, and i'd keep them over at my house.
There is 1 problem to this fun little idea, and it's that I am allergic to cats.
So we decided I would get perscription allergy pills (I don't only need these for cats, I am allergic to dust and I live in the basement, I get average of 2-3 allergy attacks a day).
I don't want any that cause drowsiness (Perhaps a Claritan that I can take all day) But I can't pay the over the counter prices for the pills, which is about 32 for 10 bucks, making it... 10 dollars for every 8 days, and they make me drowsy, the non-drowsy ones are even more.
My naturopath also told me that when you get allergic reactions too much then your prostate is 5 times more prone to have cancer when you grow up. By taking the pills does this still affect my prostate? (The hystamines are blocked but does that mean i'm not internall sensitive?) And can I get a daily allergy pill that doesn't make me drowsy that I can get on perscription.

Thats actually a good question. I'm not too sure myself but allergies are definitely worse this year for everyone for some reason.
I actually never suffer from allergies but this year is my first. Can't say that im really enjoying it.
I'm not sure about the prostate statement. But I do know that with respects to allergies, taking medication is something you want to try to avoid. I know a lot of people that tough it out since you become very dependant on the allergy medication.
I was MC at a wedding and I didn't even touch any (thankfully my allergies were kept in check for the duration of the wedding).

Well whats weird is that my mom is allergic to cats but we got a kalico cat and she is fine and doesnt get any allergies, its kinda weird that it would vary from cat to cat but i guess it does.

lol. I've found that little dogs can be the meaniest animals around. They seem to thing they can take anyone and incessently bark for hours.
