The question on many golfers, lips is, " How do I improve my game?" This is a question that has been asked by the best in the great game of golf. When asking this question is it often best to study other prominent golfers. Study their techniques and learn from example, besides they are the pros.

Many prominent golfers use what is called a stair step program. The principle is simple, the fundamentals for every succeeding swing, from the chip and pitch, through the irons, to the woods and driver are the same. The only difference is that the golfer's stroke becomes successively longer. According to the stair step principle, the golfer must perfect every shoot possible with a particular club before moving on to the next club, up the stair step.

In addition to practicing on the course's practice area it is highly recommended to play regularly. Increase the frequency of play from once per month to once per week. This will enable you to get to know your gold course, and begin to aim your shots to areas where your follow up shots would be easier.

When practicing, do your golf exercises in front of a mirror. This will let you see your mistakes. Once you have identified your mistakes, then you can take the proper action to rectify the problem, with more practice to get in right.

Another great tip is to never rush on the golf course. Allow time when arriving at the course for your practice shots and putts. Once you are on the tee, visualize the shot to be made and the spot where you expect it to land. Concentrate on the spot as you stroke the ball.

While you are playing the game, skip the practice swings right before you hit for real. Most people tend to tighten up with extra swings. It is better to relax and fire away. Most of all don't over swing, use a three-quarter back swing for your chips and pitches. You will more than gain in control and accuracy anything you might lose in distance.

Take enough clubs to get you to your target. There are so many people who constantly come up short for their approach shots to the green. For whatever reason, they always choose a club that would only get their shot to the front of the green. Take a club you can swing at 80 percent and still get to the hole. Remember conserve your energy, you have a long way to go.

Do not always use a lofted club around the greens, use a club that can hit this shot with the lowest trajectory possible. If you can putt the ball, do it. Try to keep you head steady, you are going to move your head a little during the swing, especially with the longer clubs. But try not to move your head too much. Moving your head too much will lead to all sorts of serious swing flaws that will make the game very difficult to play. Have someone watch you to see whether you move your head or watch yourself in the mirror while you take practice swings.

Keep the ball low in the wind, when the wind starts to kick up, many golfers play their normal shot and fail to hit the ball lower to allow for the conditions. Play the ball back in your stance, put your hands ahead of the ball, and keep them ahead when you make contact. Keep the ball as low as you can, and you can manage your game much more efficiently.

Most importantly give yourself a break. Golf is a hard enough game to learn and play, without blaming everything on yourself. Find creative ways to blame something else. Let your mind go and see how crazy your excuses can be. If everything else fails, you can keep your sense of humor and still survive, or at least die laughing.
